130 million girls education.png

Girls can be a force for good, change, and progress — if we let them.

Right now, more than 130 million girls are out of school: the tragic results of poverty, gender discrimination, early marriage, and even war. Education can help girls lift themselves, and their families, out of poverty, but it doesn’t end there.

When girls are educated, everyone wins, even entire nations. If educated, girls could contribute up to $30 trillion into the global economy. And if we don’t invest in girls’ futures now, the human costs — to every last one of us — could be even more staggering.

Why can’t girls reach an education?

Threats to girls’ education are deeply entrenched, but not immovable.

Barriers to education are numerous, and they vary based on country and community. Some obstacles are social: the result of deeply ingrained gender bias against educating girls, and an acceptance of child marriage and motherhood.

Others are financial, as school fees can be prohibitive to families living in poverty, leaving daughters without resources or opportunity for education. Others still are environmental and political, as refugees from conflict and natural disasters must flee, making it all but impossible to continue education and prioritize their ambitions.

Tragically, it’s no wonder that girls are more than 1.5 times more likely than boys to be excluded from primary education. We are dedicated to changing these statistics, and with you at our side, we can.

What happens when girls are excluded?

The economic costs to excluding girls and women are nothing short of stunning. When we educate girls, we change their lives, protect their health, and help them lift entire families out of poverty.

Consider this: An educated girl marries, on average, 4 years later and has 2.2 fewer children compared with girls who were excluded. And for every year of secondary school she completes, she will increase her wages by up to 25%. She’s even 3x less likely to acquire HIV / AIDS.

Moreover, an educated girl will invest 90% of her future income back into her family, helping the next generation stay healthy, nourished, and prosperous.

That’s why we believe — we know — that world change starts with girls.

Education changes everything

… for girls, for women, for everybody. Opportunities transform not only lives but entire communities. World change starts with educated girls — in fact, girls’ education is the foundation of inclusive and sustainable growth.

Consider this: if just 1% more girls in India graduate high school, they’d have the power to add $5 billion to the nation’s gross domestic product. Every single year.

That’s why we focus on some of the world’s most vulnerable children — girls living in orphanages — and empower them with education that will change the course of their future.

Our shared work

Thanks to supporters like you, Commit2Change is making a real difference, right now, in the lives of girls in South Asia.

Just consider the C2C Tech Lab, in which girls learn invaluable communication skills, presentation strategies, and technological learnings that will lead to future jobs in this rapidly growing sector.

Or our highly effective Tutoring Program, in which trained educational professionals work in small groups with at-risk girls to ensure they finish 10th grade — a crucial threshold to their academic success and eventual graduation.

Or our Life Skills Program which emphasizes what we call our “4-C’s” - Confidence, Creativity, Communication and Critical thinking  - all essential skills to thrive in today’s workplace and life.

Or our evergreen work to fund school fees, room and board, and even College expenses and mentorship programs for vulnerable girls who need us, so they can realize their worth — and one day change the world.

Our shared work sends a lifeline to some of this world’s most vulnerable girls. But it won’t happen without broad support without concerned people like you stepping forward to change these girls’ lives … and the world.
